Product Description

High Purity sodium formate with CAS No. 141-53-7

Product Overview

Sodium Formate (English name Sodium formate; Formic acid sodium salt) also known as sodium formic acid, the crystal contains two crystal water, it is also known as sodium dihydrate, sodium formate dihydrate, sodium bihydrate sodium formic acid (Sodiumformatehydrate). Sodium formate is one of the simplest organic carboxylates. It is a white crystal or powder with a slight odor of formic acid. Slight deliquescence and hygroscopicity. Soluble in about 1.3 parts water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol, octanol, insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline. Sodium formate decomposes into hydrogen and sodium oxalate upon heating, followed by the formation of Sodium Carbonate. Sodium formate is mainly used for the production of insurance powder, oxalic acid and formic acid. In the leather industry as camouflage acid in the chrome tanning process, used as a catalyst and stabilizing synthetic agent, reducing agent in the printing and dyeing industry. Sodium formate is harmless to the human body and has irritating effects on the eyes, respiratory system and skin. The molecular formula is CHO2Na chemical formula is HCOONa, HCOONa·2H2O.

Application

Mainly used for the production of formic acid, oxalic acid and insurance powder, etc.
Used for the determination of phosphorus arsenic reagents, disinfectants and mordants
preservative. Diuretic effect. EEC countries use it, but the United Kingdom is not allowed to use it.
Is the production of formic acid and oxalic acid intermediates, but also for the production of dimethylformamide. Also used in medicine, printing and dyeing industry. It is also a precipitation agent for heavy metals.
Precipitating precious metals can form trivalent metal complex ions in solution. With a buffering effect, the pH of strong mineral acids can be corrected to a higher level. It is also a precipitation agent for heavy metals.
Used as a reducing agent; used to precipitate precious metals; can form trivalent metal complex ions in solution; buffer can correct the pH of strong mineral acid
Used for alkyd resin coatings, plasticizers, high explosives, acid-resistant materials, aviation lubricants, adhesive additives
